Exhibition set up!!

Well despite several key members being very ill today we finally managed to get it all together.......

So get well wishes to Mark & Linda!
Hope you both make a speedy recovery!

Photos will be posted tomorrow - everyone was too exhausted to go round and take pics at the end of the day

The Exhibition Room was set up by the valiant efforts of Peta-Jane and our new member Karen
The Sale Room was organised by Anne-Marie, Sue and Lynn
So both teams managed to create some stunning displays out of absolute chaos.

Many thanks to Chris for all his efforts carrying things back and forth and of course our thanks to all who helped in their many ways!

Our thanks to all guest exhibitors for turning up - all packed with their lists and getting everything into the right rooms - such a well behaved bunch who followed instructions to the letter - makes life so much easier

Jim Nind has set up his interactive display in the grounds behind the Orangery
This has a stunning backdrop of the high school grounds and the river valley
So do go and look at it - interact and have fun - that's the idea - All we need is good weather so you can go out and enjoy it!

So now all we can do is hope the exhibition is well attended and that people enjoy it all - and of course buy some goodies to take home as gifts or friends and family

Remember if you do not see quite what you want .......
 you can commission a piece
just ask- we will be delighted to help

Please do say 'hello' to the stewards - they are the crafters and all are able to chat about not only their own work but everyone's else as well

We look forward to seeing you over the weekend!

Stop Press - Mary Wyatt Update!

Mary Wyatt has been a  regular and successful guest exhibitor over the past years. Her sculptural ceramic art is well collected and sought after by many. he has exhibited widely over the area. Mary was a regular exhibitor at the Reunion Gallery in Felixstowe

She is, along with her husband the organiser for the 'Art on The Prom' exhibition on the sea front in Felixstowe every September. This year they did a trial preview at The Triangle in the middle of town - and you can see what you missed here: Art on The Prom - August 2013

Below is a preview of two of her pieces for the exhibition - part of her 'bird series '

 ;
Pigeons - Billet doux ?

Funky Chicken

Mary-Wyatt-2
Part of her 'horse and rider' series - this may already be sold

She also sculpts some funky cows and she did have a juggling man and she does lots of small hand holdable birds - its all very tactile! In addition she has made  a series based on the shore - so all nautical pieces

So the best thing is to come and have a look!

Exhibition this weekend ...................further info!

Update on guest exhibitors .........................below are highlights from our four new guest exhibitors

Joan Lumkin - with some of her fun and pretty stuffed toys and dolls - perfect gifts for a child's birthday or Christmas. Joan used to design for the Jaeger fashion house - their bridal gowns. Since retiring she has focused her talents on crafting and quilting. Her craft work is beautifully finished and often involves a lot of hand finishing.

Zoe Rubens will be exhibiting her stunning metal sculptures ................... they range from small pieces to quite large  sculptural pieces. Bertoli oil cans reworked into funky watering cans - nuts, bolts, and screws fused into Christmas trees and fun items of jewellery plus some prints of her work. Check out her work here

This is her latest piece 'BIRD' and it is coming to the show
I just love it!

A selection of Zoe's work - fun and funky!

Zoes' metal bird - is it not a stunning piece!
I know she will be bringing this and other larger pieces.

Beryl Scott from Felixstowe - a printmaker - she will have some of her prints framed and others mounted - ideal if you want something that little bit different to put in that space on the wall to add that finishing touch or an unique gift for someone who has moved into a new house. I bought some of her prints at Art on the Prom - some really funky chickens! I cant wait to see what she will bring for this weekend ............
here are some of the prints she had on Art on the Prom ......................

Jim Nind will be recreating his installation he created for Art on the Prom - below is a photograph I took of it. He will also have lovely colourful prints of his work and his book relating to his current work - so something to read on those forthcoming dark winter nights! See more of his work here :

Some of Jim's art work and free form hangings being admired on the Prom at Felixstowe
He will be bringing a selection of these to Wolverstone

Jim Nind's installation ' Bottles in the Sand'
or is it ..................
'Message in a  Bottle'  there sadly will be no sand or sea at Wolverstone!

Jim writes:  I have decided to focus on the idea of ‘the pull of the sea’ and will use the idea of ‘message in a bottle’ as the theme and working title. The installation will feature a number of bottles (plastic for Health and safety purposes) situated amongst old ropes, drift wood, stones, shells etc. Each bottle will contain a ‘message’ in the form of photographs overlaid with texts. The texts will draw upon literary and cultural sources and will be embedded in the photographs. The photographs will feature East Anglian coastal localities

Hundreds of bottles with different messages in linked and tied together with rope, and other found objects from the beach - anyway Jim will be recreating this interactive freeform sculpture in the forecourt of the High School - so you can read pick up or move the bottles.
So people will act like the tide moving and shaping the work
All very exciting - first time we will have something like this - so please do come and take part - not only in this interactive art work but in our exhibition as well

The best of local crafts, from the Shotley peninsula and local area  will be on display and for sale
in the Green Room and Orangery
Plus of course you can take a break and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and a gorgeous cake

The exhibition will be stewarded by the Peninsula Craft Society members - so plenty of informed craftsmen/women to talk to about the work on display and their work

So please do come to chat to the exhibitors about their work, and enjoy not only the items on display and for sale but the lovely surroundings of the school buildings and grounds and of course the refreshments available.

We hope to see you over the weekend!

Last years Exhibition Room

Apart from the Exhibition Room we will have a sales area in the Orangery

This year we are doing something new!
The items for sale will be set out as 'themes' - so we will have dedicated areas as gifts for children, ladies, men, jewellery, accessories, fashion, house and home, a special Christmas area with all things festive!
A bit like a department store so all like things are together
We hope this will make things easier for people to select things to purchase

You are (weather permitting) able to walk around the gardens when you visit the exhibition - so with teas and coffee and cakes available it makes for a lovely relaxing day out!

In the past we have noted that people tend to walk about to do a first viewing then have a coffee and cake then go around again and then purchase.
Many come both days - think its the cake!
But for best selection come early as everything we make are one off's and thus truly unique - so once they are gone they are not repeated!
Regulars make a point of coming first thing Saturday for the best selection - some come up from London!

Exhibition items are for sale - unless marked otherwise
If you wish to purchase an exhibition item we mark it as 'sold', but where possible we like the items to stay on exhibition, to be collected on Sunday at 4pm.
